2019 is the 10th Anniversary of EVERY MISSING DUCK IS A DUCK MISSED and we're celebrating by giving back to the disease that inspired it! Buy one (or more!) of the last remaining copies of this 2009 Disques de Lapin CD and we'll donate your payment to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. (You will receive proof of donation in an email). Offer applies to physical purchases only (not digital download). "Do I love you as much as I did when you weren't sick?" Um... yes?

Williams’ 5th full length release (from Disques de Lapin, 2009) is largely inspired by the grief and futility following the illness and death of his girlfriend. Musically, it veers from somber piano ballads to electronic dirges to at least one grandiose epic with virtuoso live drums, odd time signatures and dissonant tone clusters (while still remaining catchy!). And... it's the CD home of his Idi Amin song!

“… as sad and as brutally real as it is, this is the David E. Williams release to own…” - Tony Dickie, Compulsion

“It may have been born out of great loss but for those who hear it, Every Missing Duck Is A Duck Missed certainly offers a great number of rewards, and is without doubt David’s finest moment to date…” - Lee Powell, Judas Kiss

“There is no one else alive who could turn the subject of leukaemia into a catchy two minute pop song, that he does this successfully not just once, but again and again, is testament to his abilities and the quality of his creative vision. No one else could have done this.” – Andrew King, Heathen Harvest

lyrics

Isn’t it funny how a cell in the body
can act with a mind of its own?
When one becomes a million in all
the metaphors melt amid the caterwaul
as god returns the insult:
a lover grieved is a burden relieved
and all the time that I bought
was bought with the wrong currency.

There’s an answer I don’t want to hear
to a question I don’t want to ask
but do I love you as much as I did when you weren’t sick?
The answer I don’t want to hear
to the question I don’t want to ask:
Do I love you as much as I did when you weren’t sick?

I sing on the pedestrian bridge
with an ambulance below on the street.
We do this every night when I leave.
We go “wee-ah, wee-ah, wee-ah, wee-ah, wee-ah”
to a tune in time when two became three.
"Y" is for "you" and "m" is for "me" and
"a" is for "ARA-C"
with a side of splenomegaly.

There’s an answer I don’t want to hear
to a question I don’t want to ask
but do I love you as much as I did when you weren’t sick?
The answer I don’t want to hear
to the question I don’t want to ask:
But do I love you as much as I did when you weren’t sick?

Tomorrow is a rumor, you say
and nobody else says anything
save crestfallen Padre Pio
who says to Doctor Moreau:
"Give me a broken thermometer.
One that reads a bit low…"
